Do u know that if you do a flight booking on spicejet through makemytrip.com, for a price of Re 1/- you will get an IPL fanware T-Shirt? Interesting isnt it??? But yea.. there is a catch in it.. You can find this if you read the terms and conditions correctly.
One of the conditions says:

Under this offer, in case of cancellation, MakeMyTrip will charge Rs. 1000 per IPL fanwear t-shirt as the cost of retention in addition to the cancellation charges as applicable.

Yea you read it right, if you cancle the flight, you will lose cool 1000 bucks for a T-shirt which worth Rs100 . Also, what they give is not the IPL jerseys which the players wear. its t-shirts for fans which are of low quality .

So if u are sure that you will not cancel the flight, just goahead and take the T-shirt. Otherwise dont opt for it.

Whenever I had to fly, I blindly went to makemytrip.com or yatra.com site and booked the lowest fare awailable as all those sites claim to provide the lowest fare available..

But wait a minute, are we aware that all the airlines has got their own website where we can do online booking? Yea they do have..

Yesterday I was trying to book a ticket in make mytrip from Bangalore to Kolakata. I wanted the early morning flight and Indian Airlines IC772. Makemytrip.com showed a ticket price of 12,275 INR for 2 adults and the fare was mentioned as Not Refundable by makemytrip.

Then I went to Indian Airlines website and searched for availability and saw that the same flight was available for a price of 11618 INR for 2 adults. A difference of 657Rs.

So its always better to check for multiple options before you book tickets online..

But I had a better experience with Makemytrip too. I was trying to book another flight on indigo and found that tickets booked via makemytrip.com is refundable , but the ones via indigo website is not refundable. If you book via indigo website and cancel the ticket, they will not refund you the money, but you can make use of the ticket price minus cancellation charges for other purchases on indigo . After one year this money will be lapsed.

But the refund from makemytrip comes for a price of 250Rs per person per ticket. Then also I found this as a better option as we get our money back - 250 Rs.

Shashi Tharoor or Sexy Tharoor ?

Dr. Shashi Tharoor, former UN Under-Secretary-General for communications and public informations was elected as Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram Constituency (Kerala). When he was announced as the candidate of Congress at TVM skeptics raised eye brows. A bureaucrat who is always found wearing a stylish ties and expensive suits can win from the "orthodox" Kerala ?

For the benefit of readers who dont know, he is indeed a mallu even though he doesn't look like one(without the typical mallu bushy hair)!!

Just before the elections, while all political pundits were skeptic about the fate of Tharoor, I talked to few ladies in Trivandrum aged between 30- 40 and asked about the elections. All of them said they will vote only for Tharoor ad for the same reason: "Shashi Tharoor is sexy !!" Goodness me!!!! I am hearing for the first time in my life that a politician is sexy... That too from the highly orthodox Malayalee women... All of a sudden I thought this guy will win the elections easily.. Wait wait.. Did I forget malayalee men.... oh yea... If the women found Tharoor as sexy, they are obviously not going to vote for him.. ;-) .

This scenario has happened in kerala before during a musical reality show by Amrita TV. In the final round there were 2 guys : one handsome guy who sings extremely well and the other an average looking guys who sings well. Everybody thought the handsome guy will win because of his looks and singing capabilities. But it didn't happen so because lot of guys voted for the average looking guy because their/girlfriend/mom/sister/aunt thought the other guy was handsome!!! Negative votes for the wrong reason you know !!!

Malayalees are like this... You just cant predict their behavioral pattern, especially during elections .. For example, every election results from kerala will show a huge deviation from the exit polls, they even make fun of TV channels too :).

Ohh.. Lets not deviate from Mr. Tharoor M.P. Since the birth of human kind, females were attracted towards looks ,intelligence and power.. Here we have a man with great looks,charm, intelligence and yes, he is powerful... How can he not be the favorite?

And a secret, I also secretly admire him!!

Anyway he has wont the election(may be men also thought that their constituency must have a high profile MP and a potential central minister) and now the honorable Member of parliament. I personally think Malayalees who always think education and culture is above everything did the right thing by electing the right candidate. Hope he will become the Minister for External affairs and do a splendid job for India and Trivandrum.

All the best Mr. Tharoor, India is waiting for you!!!

Shashi Tharoor was born in London. He studied at Montfort School in Yercaud and Campion School in Mumbai, attended High School at St. Xavier’s Collegiate School in Kolkata, winning a gold medal for the best student in West Bengal State, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi where he stood first in the University, graduating with a record score in History (Honours).

He was privileged to play a key role in some of the major events of his time, from the Vietnamese boat people crisis to the Yugoslav Civil Wars, to serve in both the humanitarian and peace-keeping arenas as well as in the Secretary-General's office^[3]. He established a reputation at the Department of Public Information as a reformer^[4] and as the UN's most articulate voice for the principles of the United Nations Charter and the work of multilateralism in an increasingly unipolar world.^[5]. He took a number of initiatives, ranging from organizing and conducting^[6] the first-ever UN seminar on anti-Semitism and also the first-ever UN seminar on Islamophobia^[7] to launching an annual list ^[8] of "Ten Under-Reported Stories the World Ought to Know About" ^[9].

Tharoor resigned from the post of Under Secretary General on February 9, 2007 and left the UN effective 1 April 2007.
